Here at Peace Lutheran Church we believe that young people are at the heart of the church.
Given that fact, we seek to provide ministry to them and their friends which will be meaningful
to them and provide guidance to them as they grow in faith and life.
Students in the 5th and 6th grades meet on Tuesdays after school for a period of 6 weeks in September and October. They have class and study time with our Pastor (5th grade) and Intern (6th grade) from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. and then enjoy a pizza party each week from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. The 5th grade students use their study time to prepare for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The 6th grade students use their study time to prepare for Confirmation class which they will begin in the 7th grade.
Our 7th and 8th grade students meet on Wednesdays between 6:00 and 8:00 pm during the school year for our Confirmation program known as ConfirMania! Students and adult Mentors share supper together, participate in a large group instruction time led by our Pastor and Intern, meet together in small groups of 4 students and 1 Mentor, and then close out the evening with singing and prayer. The Rite of Confirmation is celebrated each year on the first Sunday in May here at Peace Lutheran Church.
In addition to these Wednesday classes, special events are also planned for 7th and 8th grade students on a monthly basis throughout the year which they are encouraged to attend.
High School students (grades 9 - 12) here at Peace Lutheran Church meet on Wednesday evenings all year long. Students come to the church at 5:45 p.m. for supper together and then spend an hour (or so!) in discussion with our Youth Director on a topic of concern and relevance to the students.
In addition to these meetings, special events are also planned for our High School students throughout the year which they are encouraged to attend. Our High School students also take part in an annual Journey during which they travel to another part of the country and work with Habitat for Humanity in the construction of a house.
